Bad Start! Print E-mail
Not the best start to have for 2007, after a gig on Sat 30th Dec my sax decided to take on the pavement due to the strap unclipping itself! Unsurprisingly the pavement won so I had to borrow a Sax for the gigs remaining that week. Below is a picture of David Fingerhut who repairs instruments. Image

He did an incredible (and fast) job with the sax sounding as it did before the damage. Many thanks for your great skilled work David. In the same week I managed to chip a bone in my finger due to football. I shouldn’t play football but it’s great fun and I’ve been doing for years. Luckily I can still play ok.  So things can only get better!

The 2nd Album! Print E-mail

ImageThis is the picture I'm thinking of using as my next album cover, what do you think? It was taken by a tour manager who had to deal with my temperamental ‘old skool’ camera, at a recent gig. Mistakes are a beautiful thing.

I've been writing and recording over the last 4 months for my next release. My idea is to produce an album of original music. However I find myself writing more for two instruments.

Don't get me wrong I love the full band thing but there is something special about keeping the group small. You hear so much more texture from each instrument.

Cafe In The Crypt Concert Print E-mail

ImageI had a great gig on the evening of Wednesday 22nd Nov at the Cafe in the Crypt. It's a great venue hidden away under St Martin's church in Trafalgar Square. The Crypt is open to the public all day everyday. You can eat, drink and check out some great bands. Plus it's a great retreat from the hustle of central London. Check it out at stmartin-in-the-fields.org. There are some pictures of the gig in the gallery.

Getz Print E-mail

ImageAbove is a picture of Giorgio Serci . We recently recorded together for my second album. The tune is called 'Getz' , paying tribute to the amazing Sax player Stan Getz . I always loved his sound whilst growing up. I also admired the way he managed to not bow down to the pressure of 'fitting in'. The fashion at the time was to play hard and fast solos. Getz always played in a lyrical style with an amazing sound You can see a video of Giorgio and I recording 'Getz' on the video page.

Spike Print E-mail

Had to include this highly cheesy picture of David Oliver and myself. This was taken in October 2006 after he played some bad ass Latin piano over one of my latest tunes: 'Spike'. Check the tune out by clicking on this arrow  He did it in 2 takes!

CD Face Print E-mail

ImageJust wanted to say a big thank you to my Uncle Richard Howarth, who drew this fantastic picture for my CD face. It's based on the picture on my album cover of me sat staring down. Very Andy Warhol !
