In A Sentimental Mood Print E-mail

I've just returned from an a great trip to South Africa. The visit was music related although I only had to play 5 gigs in 20 days! So for the rest of the time I managed to relax. To the left is a picture of me on Safari which was incredible! I returned a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed playing a night of swing jazz at the White Horse in Epsom. The line up was Giorgio Serci on Guitar, Alex Keen on double bass and myself. Below is a track recorded (very roughly) from the gig, it's us playing the wonderful tune 'In A Sentimental Mood'. If you listen carefully you can hear the Epsom traffic in the background!

This is a picture of  Sam Edwards and myself @ Pizza Express in Maidstone on Saturday 19th January 2008. It was really enjoyable concert which took place upstairs in the Listening Room. Here is a rough recording made on my mini disc recorder. Click on the arrow

to hear the first tune we played that night from my album Butterfly. The tune is called 'Holding On'. I had some amazing shots taken at the gig by Max Steckelmacher if you would like to check them out look on my gallery page. Also the picture to the left is being hung at the venue which is good for the ego!

It is a pleasure to play this venue and I'm looking forward to the next gig there. Click on this arrow

to hear one of my tunes from the second set 'Working Title' the quality is not great because it's been taken from a microphone to mini disc.

Above is a picture of Martin Shaw (Trumpet), Nigel Waddington (Composer / Trumpet) and myself. I enjoyed a couple of really interesting recording sessions this week for the composer Nigel Waddington. Nigel composes very captivating pieces to play on and listen to. Click on the arrow to hear one of the tunes we recorded.

The recording session took place at Red Gables studio in North London which really does have the space to record so musicians at once. Nigel used a big band line up augmented by an orchestra! I played in the big band on the first day and went back to record a duet type tune featuring Martin Shaw. If you would like to find out more about Nigel's music click here

I want everyone to know about this great album. A friend of mine Lyndon Connah co wrote, produced and played keyboards, guitar, bass, percussion and sang on this album. It really is worth a listen. Check it out by clicking here . You can also download it from i-tunes.
